03. Gazebo in the Workspace
Gazebo in the Workspace
You can chose to work on your project in the Udacity Workspace. As before, follow these simple steps to boot up Gazebo in your Workspace:
-
First, enable the GPU on your workspace by clicking
Enable GPU.
-
Open the visual desktop by clicking on
Go to Desktop.
The workspace is best supported on Google Chrome and might not load on other browsers. - Then, update and upgrade the Workspace image to get the latest features of Gazebo. To do so, open a terminal, and write the following statement:
$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y
Note : Remember to update and upgrade your image after each reboot since these updates(or any package that you install) are not permanent. Ignore any error you get while upgrading.
- Now launch Gazebo from the terminal by typing:
$ gazebo
Be advised that occasionally Gazebo gets stuck in a loading loop. If Gazebo does not fully load after about one minute, try closing it by pressing Ctrl+C while the Gazebo terminal is active. Then, try running the command again to restart Gazebo.
Workspace
This section contains either a workspace (it can be a Jupyter Notebook workspace or an online code editor work space, etc.) and it cannot be automatically downloaded to be generated here. Please access the classroom with your account and manually download the workspace to your local machine. Note that for some courses, Udacity upload the workspace files onto https://github.com/udacity , so you may be able to download them there.
Workspace Information:
- Default file path:
- Workspace type: react
- Opened files (when workspace is loaded): n/a
